A Ready Recollection

The Mind Numbing Ponderings Of A Pulpit Preacher

Life Mirrors Scripture:

Some close friends young daughter received some serious burns and was taken to the hospital. She was doing fine when my wife and I came to visit and is recovering nicely. I can imagine the feeling of panic that may have occurred. The thought of a young child in pain and the unlimited “What If’s” that cross the mind will often create within us a feeling of great responsibility.

I believe it is safe to say that, when the accident occurred, both of the parents would have gladly traded places with their child, if for no other reason, to spare her from the pain.

This reminds me of a passage of Scripture.

 Isaiah 53:4-7

Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed. We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to our own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all.

Think about it.
